5 Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week! [Google Play Weekly]


The holidays are over, CES is over, and everything is starting to get back to normal. That doesn’t mean there weren’t a lot of awesome things happening in the world of applications. To start, Google Play Services got an update to version 4.1 that brings a lot of new features including better battery life. Nuance, the company behind Swype, brought their trademark keyboard and a virtual assistant to smart watches and that’s actually good for smart watches. Speaking of keyboards, Swiftkey continues their roll with a new update that adds better emojis and a number row along with some bug fixes. CyanogenMod released GalleryNext beta to the Google Play Store. To get it, follow this link, join the beta community, and then you can download the app from the Google Play Store. Our last trending app this week is the venerable Zedge. Zedge received a pretty decent update that brings back the ability to save and store favorites within the app and also adds sorting in My Downloads and Get it on Google PlayMy Favorites. In addition, there are the standard bug fixes and performance improvements. This should fix most problems people were having with the app’s new design.
