5 Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week! – [Google Play Weekly]
It’s almost Christmas and things in the Google Play Store have been a little hectic. Things are being updated, things are being released, and things are going away. To start, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was finally released to the Play Store but sadly, there were some errors with it. Humble Bundle 8 is out now and, right now anyway, you can get six Android games for $4-$5. Opera is looking to build a browser called Opera Max that uses way less data. Google has announced their top apps of the year as voted by you, the people. Finally, App Ops is gone as of Android 4.4.2 because, according to Google, it’s too dangerous for the average user. Now, without further delay, here are five more Android apps you can’t miss this week!
Skype was recently updated to include a few fun new features. In the update was a new organizational feature that lets you zoom out of letters and zoom back in if you have a lot of contacts. The big new feature, though, is the ability to multitask while video chatting. So if you want to watch videos or something while video chatting, you now can.
First up this week is Ingress. If you haven’t heard, Ingress is a real time augmented reality massively multiplayer online game and it has finally left beta. If you like walking around town and the thought of hacking portals sounds good to you, you can now find it in the Google Play Store. If you get into it, there’s a very healthy community of players on Google+ that you should check out.
Yes, even though the game had a rough release, it still made the trending apps list. Thus far, it’s had a lot of downloads and we’re sure the negative reviews will clear out once people get the patch downloaded and actually get into the game. It’s a little disappointing but it’s release day and these things happen. Kudos to Rockstar for fixing it so quickly.
Zedge released an update to version 4.0 a couple of weeks ago but actually didn’t make it official until earlier this week. We did a review and here at the end of the video we’ll link you to that. Essentially, Zedge has taken their extensive collection of media and put a brand new interface over top of it. If you need wallpapers or ringtones, this is the app we recommend.
Amazon’s Kindle app has been slowly improving over the last year or so. Among other things, the UI has improved as has performance. With a recent update, there are now some organizational features that allow you to sort your books for easier access. If you haven’t given the Kindle app a chance in a while, now is a good time to check it out again.
