APPTEASERS: 15 Android apps and games you should know about (May 9)
APPTEASERS is a collection of apps and games that are new to Android, recently updated, discounted, etc. Whatever the case, we think they’re worth exploring and are willing to bet that many of you would enjoy a few of them.
We understand that we won’t get every single app that crosses our path but we hope to filter things a bit and pass them along to you, dear reader. What you’ll find below is a quick plug for apps and games, occasionally using the developer’s own words to describe the title.
Note that this column is not intended to be a list of “must have” apps but more of a random assortment of titles you might not already know about. Also, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Google+ as we showcase different apps over there as well!
Updated just in time for the annual developer conference, the official app has all sorts of wonderful new features. A must-have for those in attendance, the app is also great for those who like to watch from afar (or who cannot attend). Details in this year’s version include scanning badges via NFC, lock screen widget, HDMI output for video streams, automatic Wi-Fi setup for attendees, and a dedicated mode for watching live streams. Also available on the web and through apps for iPhone and iPad, Podio lets users connect with other coworkers and collaborators. Start one-on-one chats, group chats, track projects, set tasks, and much more. (FREE)

This beta client aims to speed up your email experience. Note that it only uses Gmail for now and that it’s limited to English but more account types are expected in short order. (FREE)
Simple, free tool which lets users send scheduled messages and updates via SMS, Facebook, Twitter and/or email. Pick a time and account and you’re nearly finished! Features a sharp, minimalistic Holo UI and works on all Android 3.0+ devices. Offered in beta, the developers are seeking feedback for improvements and tweaks. (FREE)

Parents and babysitters alike will enjoy being able to access thousands of ratings and reviews for various types of media. Pick out the right movie, book, television show, song, or app using the trusted Common Sense Media advisors. Among other features, the app allows for watching previews, saving items for later, and scanning barcodes of products to learn more. (FREE)
Trying to figure out what the words are to that stupid pop song? Check out this lightweight (under 1MB) and free (ad-supported) client that delivers lyrics. Automatically searches for currently playing song and ties to a myriad of popular Android music apps. Lyrics come from LyricWiki, an ever-growing database of more than 1.8 million songs. (FREE)
